Family events in August 2008


Saturday 2 August. 2.30pm-4.30pm. Textile Workshop. This workshop for families uses stitches found in some of the Manor's collection. Produce your own embroidered panel, inspired by Morris's designs and the Manor's beautiful garden. Places are limited. Bookings on the day, only. Free admission (donations invited). Usual conditions for admission to the house apply (see 'Visiting' page).


Saturday 2 August. 3.00pm-4.00pm. A performance by the celebrated Charlbury Morris, who make a welcome return to Kelmscott Manor to entertain visitors on the tea lawn. Usual conditions for admission to the Manor apply (see 'Visiting' page).


Saturday 16 August. Teddy Bears' Picnic. Starting 12.30pm. Starting with a picnic, the programme includes a Bear Hunt, competitions for Biggest & Smallest Bear and Bear Most Like its Owner and a Teddy Activity Pack.The cost for this event if £5.50, which covers 1 child + 1 adult and includes the cost of the child's picnic box. Each additional child, £3.50 (including picnic box); each additional adult, £2. Places must be booked in advance. Young Musicians' Platform Concerts 2008


Saturday 6 September. MorrisLenson Guitar Duo. 7.30pm. Set in the Manor's atmospheric South Road Barn, the programme includes Soler, Giuliani, Albeniz and Ryan. Both graduates of the Royal Academy of Music, Jake Lenson and Mark Morris come to Kelmscott after recent engagements at St Martin in the Fields and Chichester Festival. The venue does not have heating, so you may wish to bring an extra jumper - and a cushion! The house will not be open for viewing coinciding with this event.
